Rather than attempting to give everything a title and full page write-up of its own, I'm going to add all of the little thoughts that never get a full paragraph of their own. But let's make it clear that this is not twitter. Twitter is for people who replace words with numbers. And we all know that's not acceptable, right?
Good.
Quarterly Music Update
Noble Beast is holding up very well, although the last album still holds the top place in his history for me. I finally grabbed a copy of Anathallo's second album Canopy Glow and while it doesn't use the same dynamic flow that made Floating World so amazing, every one of the songs is great. Sun Gangs and All the Plans both leaked; All the Plans is phenomenal while Sun Gangs only falls slightly shy of the raw power of Nux Vomica. Keane and The Killers both disappointed slightly with their newest releases. Perfect Symmetry is bouncier than their previous two offerings, which isn't really what I'm looking for when I'm in the mood for Keane. And The Killers spent a few too many vacation days in the Bahamas, bringing steel drums and a hundred other Caribbean flavors to Day & Age.
A couple of important new finds to mention! DM Stith released his debut album entitled Heavy Ghost and what a hell of a record. Very much a winter album, I think. I've said that it reminds me of Radiohead without the electronica or terror. Also, my Anathallo boardies get credit for mentioning Margot and the Nuclear So and So's. Their first album, The Dust of Retreat, just might be flawless from start to finish. They release two albums after that, but that story just gets confusing. Find them (if you can). LP4 is tentatively scheduled for a late 2009 release, which is good because Coldplay have decided to nix the plan for Viva La Vida's follow-up; that is, the plan to have the next album out at the end of this year has been eliminated. They said they're afraid that the world is tiring of hearing them.
Finally, Kingdom of Rust is out next week. When it arrives, I'm closing my office doors and lying down on the floor for an hour to listen to it. Probably the most anticipated album since Dig Out Your Soul, for me. Maybe even more.
Enormously Important WoT News
Oh fuck. Start the countdown. The storm gathers.
